Even though you recently published your domain name on major major search engines/directories, you may want to consider some simple algorithms which, when observed and committed in designing of a website and placing various critical metatags can surely achieve a high search engine presence and placement.

Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based website, make sure to fill-in the property entries such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can be readily indexed by search robots.

A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text, is far easier to be indexed by search robots.

Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots are unable to properly classify textual material.

Placement of Metatags:

A ranking or search order does take place with Google and Yahoo and it begins with the Title metag which should consist of no more than 65 characters separated by commas. The Title should describe in generic terms, the goods and services, followed by a location from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state. The placement of a domain name which is not generic within the Title is not appropriate, unless your domain name is a major recognizable brand name.

The second metatag is the Description which is usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which best describes the goods and services.

And the very last category - Keywords are also somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which is defined as the loading, and submission of repetitive words into a particular metatag category. "Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported to Google's spamreport.com can result in the elimination of your website from their search directory.

Here's an example of a very highly-placed website on Yahoo.com: Begin with the search query "pizza downtown los angeles." It will bring up some 1.4 million+ websites as results. Check out where "Pizza Next Door" is ranked. It's in the Top Five! Again, Pizza Next Door's high web presence was achieved by proper web design and placement of relevant metatags according to Yahoo's publication guidelines. Good luck!
References :
SEO and SEM are not a 'Black Art' and there are many, many people out there that will provide you with what you want for a 'Kings Ransom'.
I am able to get a web site listed with Google in 12 days, and Yahoo in 21 days, those are the MAIN two, because most of the rest use those.
I'm going to give you a link to one of the TOP MEN in the UK, and there is nothing in it for me, I just like to help people expand their knowledge.
www.planet-divinity.com
David is considered one of the best in the business, sign up to his newsletter you will learn loads.
Good Luck with your quest.
Kind Regards,
Norman C.
References :
optimization. I'm actually trying to find few things myself. There are several books even freely distributed but not many are great while you can get some information about doing so. You can also look into download.com and search but be careful as there are several fake softwares (you may start to notice how most will have the same icon after downloading them) (there are just a few that do not have the same icon but just make sure not to pay them unless you know for certain; search the search engines using the file name as the keyword; read the user reviews as it is a big clue as well)

Optimizing may work but requires a lot if you really want to be on the top. Look around the for search engine submitters on download.com; you can use them and/or do what i do which is to install and look at what sites it sends to; copy the site name and put it through Yahoo search and find the site; then go to the site if it's actually worth using a certain program. use the site name on siteadvisor.com and take a look at the ranking or number of people; do a whois on some of the websites as I found several that may end up being terrible depedning on what kind of website you're promoting. You can use wikipedia.org and search the word 'whois' and on the very bottom of the page, you can find 'external links' and you can find several whois services (whois.net and whois.com are popular but after several uses, I find it to be slow)

Good luck, maybe if you find something you can show it to me purhaps.
References :
Umm...What sort of marketing are you pertaining too?

As far as buying ad space at myspace, I have no clue...

Marketing to your customers is very straightforward though! My website gains $300-$500+ in extra sales monthly thanks to myspace! Of course my target audience/customers are the gender/age group that use it the most...but it's certainly a great tool.

Hope this helps...and while you're at it, check out our myspace!
